Matthew Vaughn’s signature Argylle film of the successful Kingsman and Kick-Ass franchises, is a spy thriller that purports to bring an air of renewal to the genre.
Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) is Elly Conway, a successful author of a best-selling spy novel series, who lives in isolation at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when Elly’s books, centered on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy lobby, begin to reflect the hidden actions of a real spy organization, Elly’s quiet evenings at home, become a thing of the past.
Accompanied by Cat-allergic spy Aiden (Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell), Elly, always with her cat, tries to stay one step ahead of the professional killers as the line between the fictional and the real world begins to blur.
Alfie Elly’s cat is played by Chip, the real cat of supermodel Claudia Schiffer, who by the way is the wife of the film’s director, Matthew Vaughn.
“He’s my wife’s cat and my daughter’s cat,” the director told Empire. “I stole him on the second day of filming and said, “I’m going to borrow him for the next three months”… and in the end I fell in love with him.”
The Argylle film will be released in cinemas by Universal on February 2, 2024, shortly before its screening on Apple TV+.
