Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji Itadori Characters History, Powers, and Everything We Know

Age: 15 years old
Birthday: March 20th
Zodiac sign: Pisces
Height: 1.73 m

The protagonist of the story, Yuji Itadori, was a student of Sugisawa High School, where he was very popular due to his physical strength, endurance and athletic abilities. However, he never showed interest in joining sports clubs, although he was always asked to replace absent players.

Raised by his grandfather, Yuji keeps the two messages he told him on his deathbed to himself: Always help others and die surrounded by people. And he puts his first lesson into practice when the occult club of his friends lures curses to school. This happens when you release a mysterious talisman in the form of a rotten finger. In order to protect his classmate Megumi Fushiguro and the others present, Yuji finally eats the bizarre finger.

This leads to the fact that he becomes the bearer of Ryomen Sukuna, one of the most powerful curses in history. Satoru Gojo, one of the teachers of the school of witchcraft, decides to take Yuji as a student and teach him how to channel his cursed energy, despite the disapproval of his superiors. While he wants to exorcise and kill Yuji, Gojo suggests postponing this and training his new abilities and powers. The goal is for him to consume Sukuna’s remaining fingers and end the curse on the world.

Enhanced Reflexes

Enhanced Reflexes

In his old school, Yuji was a substitute member of the track team and constantly broke established records. Thanks to this speed, he can easily dodge attacks.

Birth Parents

Birth Parents

Itadori Yuji’s biological parents are supposedly normal people, Kaori Itadori and Jin Itadori. According to the manga, her mother was a jujutsu practitioner who could use her innate technique to turn off gravity. However, the twist in the story comes when they realize that this is the same Kaori that was adopted by Kenjaku, the main antagonist of the series.

During his time of possessing Kaori’s body, Kenjaku gave birth to Yuji, which is the cause of his superhuman physique. His reasons for this are unknown.

Enhanced Resistance

Enhanced Resistance

He is able to withstand both magical and physical blows with much more endurance than any other magician.

Superhuman Strength

Superhuman Strength

From the very beginning it is clear that Itadori is not a normal high school student. He is the ace of the athletics club, he can throw a lead ball hard enough on the goal post to bend it, and he can punch through brick walls as if they were made of cardboard.

His main offense against cursed spirits is to use his incredible strength in addition to his high reserve of cursed energy. By combining the two, he is able to encounter high-grade cursed spirits without much difficulty. However, with these two skills, he cannot fight special grades.

Poison Resistance

Poison Resistance

As the host of Sukuna, Yuji is resistant to all kinds of poisons that exist. They can cause pain, but do not fall under their action.

High Durability

High Durability

Needless to say, Yuji is also quite durable. It’s not enough to throw a bad punch, you need to throw one without also folding it in half. The anime showed that Yuji is more than capable of enduring a little spanking without dying, even though he has died once or twice (don’t worry).

In addition, he has the perseverance to continue for long periods of time, which makes him a great fighter. Imagine him as Captain America with a pinch of delicious superpowers.

Black Flash

Black Flash

The most powerful technique in Yuji’s arsenal is definitely the Black Lightning. It is one of the most difficult techniques to master, as it is very unreliable. The longest record for consecutive black flashes is held by Kento Nanami, who managed to do it four times in a row.

According to Nanami, the most difficult part of the technique is to pull it off the first time. Then it’s about getting into the right mindset, a state of flux where the user can manipulate their cursed energy without thinking.

The black flash is a cursed energy manipulation technique where the user condenses his cursed energy and releases it at the exact moment his physical impact lands. Intense concentration causes a ripple in space that causes great damage.

The first time Yuji used the black lightning, he managed to get four hits on Hanami at once, which tied Nanami’s record. After a user has managed to use the technique once, his control over his cursed energy increases exponentially and becomes almost completely natural. That is why it is easier to use the black flash after a single use.

Fast Learner

Yuji Itadori Fast Learner

Without a doubt, Yuji’s most valuable skill is his ability to learn. This may seem like an exaggeration, but you have to keep in mind that Yuji is a newbie who has learned everything he has in a few months. He can deal with curses of a special class from head to toe with a little help, and this is mainly due to how well he can absorb new concepts and translate them into his fights.

A good example of this is how he learned the Black Lightning, his strongest attack. Conceptually, Black Flash is nothing groundbreaking. You just need to release an immense amount of cursed energy in a very, very short time. In practice, this is a feat only possible by a handful of wizards, with even characters like Gojo unable to command them. However, Yuji is able to learn it soon after learning about mechanics from Aoi Todo during his fight against Hanami, a spirit of the special class.

Due to his incredible natural talent, Satoru Gojo believes that he is one of the few people in the world who can surpass him in strength and become the new mainstay for the Jujutsu community.

Mandatory Vows

Yuji Itadori Mandatory Vows

Yuji has a contract with Sukuna that allows the curse to use his body for a full minute when he says the string of words, but he is not aware of this, since the second part of the vow was that he would completely forget about the agreement.
