Sony confirms that Xperia 5 V will not come to the US

Sony makes some amazing Android phones, but it is not a major player in the US smartphone market. In truth, Xperia phones outside Japan – its home market – are limited in their scope, and consumer interest is decreasing with each quarter. Despite this, the company continues to regularly launch new Xperia phones on the market. Recently, Sony announced the Xperia 5 V, a compact Android phone with a microSD card and an earphone input. If you were hoping to acquire the Xperia 5 V when it was released in the US, be prepared for disappointments.

Sony has announced that it will not launch the Xperia 5 V in the North American market this year. We want to focus on our chief car, the Xperia 1 v”” There is room for interpretation here that the company will be able to launch the phone on the market next year. However, with the OnePlus 12 and Samsung Galaxy S24 supposedly launched in January 2024, interest in the Xperia 5 V will probably subside even among Sony’s most loyal fans by then.

The Xperia 1 V is a better phone than the 5V and has a 4K phone with a size of more than 6.5 inches and 50% more pixels than the 6.1-inch OLED FHD + OLED panel of the latter. It also has 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of armament. Also in the camera department, the Xperia 1 v outperforms the 5V with a 5x 12MP telephoto lens. Both phones have a 48MP primary sensor and can record 4K HDR video at up to 120 frames per second, a feature you won’t find on any other Android phone.

The problem is the high price, since the Xperia 1 V is sold for impres 1,400. This makes it almost as expensive as some of the best dual phones. It is difficult to justify the exorbitant price, especially if the phone does not provide sufficient value for its price, and one of the parallels in design and camera remains. Add the slow pace of implementing Sony’s software updates and the limited presence in the US, and the recommended price of US1,400 will be even harder to digest.

Therefore, the Xperia 5 V would be an optimal (and cheaper) alternative to the 1 V, especially for customers who wanted to experience the Sony version on the Android without having to spend so much.

It is true that there are much better mid-range Android phones and budgets in the US that offer a better experience than the Xperia 5 V. If you are looking for a compact cooking car, it is hard to overcome the Samsung Galaxy S23 , which is sold at a reasonable price. $ 800 and come with a great set of cameras.

If you are in the UK or Europe, you can purchase the Xperia 5 v for £849 and €999 respectively.
