While anime moms are known for their health, the same is true for the numerous anime dads. Just like anime moms, anime dads can have many roles in any series they belong to, but these dads are most famous for their love for their children, especially their children.
But just as great parents in the anime are good for their children, there are other parents whose relationships with their children can only be called fickle. With these responsible parents, their children and fans will experience excessive drama and anxiety.
Vinsmoke Judge and Sanji (One Piece)
While Vinsmoke Judge took care of and appreciated his powerful three sons and daughter, he absolutely did not care about his third son Sanji, whom he considered a failure due to Sanji’s genetic changes that were not activated due to his mother’s challenge. Therefore, the judge had no problem locking Sanji in a cell and allowing his brothers to intimidate and torture him.
Years later, Sanji and Judge still value each other little, although the latter finds a use for Sanji by marrying him to the seemingly good-natured Charlotte Pudding. Of course, Sanji Judge still has not forgiven her cruel treatment of him in his childhood and after Big Mom’s betrayal of the Vinsmoke family, Sanji wasted no time in severing his family ties with Judge.
Guts and Gambino (Berserk)
Given the fact that the Berserk series is known for being dark and terrible, the relationship between Guts and Gambino can be considered one of the most tense relationships in all anime and manga films. Although it was Gambino who trained Guts in fencing, this “father-son” relationship was doomed to failure the moment Gambino met Guts.
Gambino hesitates to take him in from the very beginning, and after the death of his beloved Shisu, he begins to see guts as an omen. As a result, he begins to abuse Guts as terribly as possible, including selling to a degenerate mercenary and trying to kill him in a drunken rage; in the latter case, he would have succeeded if Guts had not killed him in self-defense.

Dario and Dio Brando (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Dio Brando may be a terrible person in his own right, but he was also abused by his father Dario. Without love for anyone but alcohol, Dario was responsible for driving his wife to her death from overwork and using Dio as a means of promoting her alcoholism, which indirectly made Dio the villain fans who know it today.
Because of his abusive treatment, Dio has no problem slowly poisoning an unsuspecting Dario to death. Although even after Darius’s death, Dio still curses his resemblance to him, namely when he sees himself drinking.
Kyo and his Father (Fruits Basket)
Even in the Sohma family, Kyo’s family conflict was especially great due to his status as an unwanted zodiac cat. This is only exacerbated by his relationship with his estranged father, who blames Kyo for his wife’s premature suicide and has subsequently left him.
Even when Kyo was out of his life, his father still cursed him for his wife’s death and was thrilled to see his son locked up for the rest of his life. Even when Kyo tried to reach out and make amends, his father still denounced him as a monster, making Kyo realize how superficial his father really was in the end.
Ivan and Laxus Dreyar (Fairy Tail)
At the beginning of the Fairy Tail series, it is revealed that Ivan is responsible for giving Laxus his signature lightning Dragon slayer magic by implanting a dragon lacrima on him at a young age. However, his intentions for this were not out of kindness of heart; Ivan Laxus implanted the lacrima only out of shame for his weakness.
Although Ivan is very confident that Laxus will join his raven-tailed guild, he shows no compassion for Laxus’ well-being, as evidenced by his desire to extract the Lacrima dragon from Laxus, although he may have caused the death of his son or irreparable harm. The only value Ivan sees in Laxus is the tool to finally get the Fairy Tail Guild’s award-winning Lumen story, which causes Laxus to leave him while playing in the big magic games.

Tomoya and Naoyuki Okazaki (Clannad)
Although Tomoya Okazaki initially had a good relationship with his father Naoyuki, everything changed when his mother Atsuko died in a car accident. Since then, Naoyuki quit his job and began to drink heavily, which often led to physical and verbal arguments with his son.
Shortly before the start of the highly emotional Clannad series, it is revealed that Naoyuki was responsible for Tomoya’s dislocated shoulder after hitting Tomoya against a wall during one of her arguments with him. It was this incident that led Tomoya to the path of crime as a coping mechanism for all activities in which he stopped participating due to his injury.
Shoto and Enji Todoroki (My Hero Academia)
Although Gambino is known for being one of the worst father characters in the anime, he recently had a competition in the form of Enji Todoroki from My Hero Academia, better known by his hero name Endeavour. Although he is apparently a strong figure of heroism, he is notorious for causing much harm and suffering to his family, especially his wife Rei and youngest son Shoto.
When Shoto was younger, Enji subjected him to hellish training to make him a hero who could overcome all forces. Unfortunately, this not only caused unnecessary conflict for Shoto and his other immediate family members, but also fueled a resentment in Shoto, which peaked with Rei’s psychotic episode that scarred him. It is this resentment that initially led to the fact that Shoto refused to use the fiery half of his peculiarity.
