Netflix Movies That are Perfect for John Wick Fans

This is a big week for the John Wick franchise, which will take a leap in retrospect – especially with the release of a prequel series, Peacock’s the Continental, set in and around the hotel for villains so central to the plot of the four films. At the same time, the three-part prequel series will plunge into the story of an important secondary character, the hotel owner Winston Scott, who is also a high-ranking member of the criminal underworld. The series will indeed be a great joy for fans of John Wick.

While John Wick is waiting for the prequel and the fifth movie of the franchise that is in the works, John Wick fans who are looking for something new have a lot of Netflix movies with similar themes to enjoy. Whether you are looking for a story about assassins, revenge or just a generally bloody and exciting shootout, you can find that in all four Netflix movies that we recommend below. Starting with a Mary Elizabeth Winstead thriller about a woman whose time is running out.

Polar

As for other Netflix movies that John Wick fans will enjoy, we continue with Polar from 2019 – in which Mads Mikkelsen plays Duncan Vizla, aka The Black Emperor. He is a member of an organization of assassins who are approaching retirement age and whose employer eventually decides that he needs to be eliminated. According to the streamer : “Against his will, he finds himself back in the game, facing an army of younger, faster and more ruthless killers who will stop at nothing to silence him.”

Kate

In Kate, Winstead plays a skilled, first-class assassin who accomplishes a mission targeting a Yakuza member in Tokyo. To top it off, she discovers that she has been poisoned and learns that she still has 24 hours to live. So, what does she do with the time she has left? You guessed it – embark on a wave of murderous revenge, hunt for the person responsible for his poisoning, and at the same time place the teenage daughter of one of his former victims under his protection.

Matt Boksoon

The protagonist of Kill Boksoon is a woman who is the mother of a teenage daughter and also a 100% successful contract killer. Gil Boksoon is an experienced professional assassin who works in an agency that hires his killers for jobs. However, when the time comes to renew her contract with the agency, she decides to retire and leave everything behind so that she can focus on repairing her relationship with her daughter.

However, before informing the agency of her decision, she is on one last mission, discovers a secret and decides to break the rules of the agency because of it. This, as the title suggests, leads not only to his agency, but to anyone in the assassin industry who wants to do the same: kill Boksoon.

Gunpowder Milkshake

The next two Netflix movies offer more of the same and are built around tough female protagonists. The gunpowder milkshake of 2021 actually focuses on three generations of women who are among the toughest killers.

Sam (Karen Gillan) was just 12 years old when her mother Scarlet (Lena Headey), an elite assassin, was forced to leave her. Sam was raised by the company, the ruthless crime syndicate that her mother worked for. Now, 15 years later, Sam has followed in her mother’s footsteps and become a ferocious assassin.”She is efficient, loyal and cleans up the mess of the company. After all, an important job goes wrong, and Sam has to decide whether he will serve the interests of the company or protect an innocent 8-year-old girl.
